An initiative of the ‘Safety Incentive Scheme’ fund of Heerema Vlissingen employees and customers.
Heerema Vlissingen, one of the three construction yards of Heerema Fabrication Group (HFG) donated this morning three diesel pumps to the Koninklijke Nederlandse Redding Maatschappij (KNRM) (Royal Dutch Rescue Company) for the lifeboats of Cadzand, Westkapelle and Veere. The donation represents an amount of 3,750 Euro and has been donated by Heerema Vlissingen of the ‘Safety Incentive Scheme’ fund.
This morning a symbolic transfer took place at the Heerema Vlissingen quayside in Vlissingen-Oost. This symbolic transfer was performed by Pieter Posthuma, an employee of Heerema Vlissingen and the initiator of the donation, by means of starting the diesel pump on board the lifeboat Zeemanshoop.
The new pumps contribute to an improved reliability whilst minimizing environmental damage from polluted water. Furthermore, it also reduces the possible danger of explosion.
Safety of personnel is priority number ONE to the Heerema organization. One of the many activities to stimulate this safety behavior is this ‘Safety Incentive Scheme’. Every month Heerema, as well as customers, donates an amount of money in this fund. The amount of money depends on measured criteria. Employees of Heerema can make a request to which organization or charity fund they would like to donate the money. Since the start of this initiative Heerema has donated for more than 30,000 Euro to charity funds and organizations.
