After graduating in mechanical engineering from the University of Delft, it was time for me to find a job. I knew I was interested in the "real" industry and liked to travel but that was pretty much all I knew. After a period of time I stumbled upon the website of Heerema Fabrication Group. It caught my attention with the possibility of doing a traineeship. This offers a unique possibility to check a company out from all different perspectives.

I have been working with Heerema for almost a year now and I have already been offshore a number of times, worked in different production divisions and had a chance to do research and present the results to management. It sounds cliché but I really enjoy my job.

In future I would like to grow into a position in management within our fabrication division. Seeing a platform come to life is awesome! You really see what you are doing and what it is for, it’s more than just creating papers or giving an advice.

Because of the growth potential in the oil industry in years to come and the Heerema Groups’ plans for expansion there are a lot of career opportunities. I would recommend to people looking for a job to try out Heerema. With the different divisions there is a world of possibilities. You can design, fabricate, transport or install a major production unit, according to where you choose to work!

Heerema gives me the opportunities and the tools I need to perform a job I thoroughly enjoy. At the end of the day that is what is most important.
